Proposal for Increasing College-Based Fees at Cal Poly
College Based Fees (CBF) were initiated by students to improve their quality of education and time to graduation. College Based Fees are included in tuition costs and allocations to each department are based on enrollment numbers. The department has established College Based Fee committees to represent its programs. Each committee, represented by students and faculty, meet regularly throughout the academic year to:
- discuss needs for their respective program areas;
- develop/recommend an expenditure plan to the Department Head;
- provide oversight on how expenditures are occurring.
Expenditures/Achievements in 2007/08 for the RPTA Program
- Co-shared coverage of the NRM Department staff positions
- Co-shared coverage of NRM Dept. Operating Expenses (30%)
- Co-shared coverage of NRM Dept. vehicle insurance (30%)
- Co-shared coverage for monitors in NRM computer labs
- Maintaining lecturer coverage for REC courses during the academic year and where possible during summer session
- Recruitment and hiring costs of REC full-time lecturer
- Partial cost reimbursement for REC full-time lecturer position
- Total cost reimbursement of a lecturer position recruitment and hiring
- Equipment purchases
- Cost reimbursement of selected student projects and year-end student activities
- Recruitment costs for REC full-time tenure track position
- Annual decisions discretionary fund for REC expenditures
- Field trip reimbursement for students
- Reimbursement for faculty professional development expenses
